Richard R. Kelly Memorial Award

Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS Honor One of Their Own with Annual Award

Each year, members of local law enforcement, the Walton Fire Department, EMS, friends, and community leaders come together to honor the memory of Richard R. Kelly by presenting a memorial award in his name. The Richard R. Kelly Memorial Award is given to the most outstanding trainee from the recent Firearms Training Course.

“We established the Richard R. Kelly Memorial Award to celebrate Rich’s exceptional dedication and commitment to law enforcement,” explained Capt. James Small, Training Coordinator for the Delhi Police Department. “Rich exemplified firearm safety, expertise, patience, and outstanding communication skills. These are the qualities we considered when selecting an officer as a recipient.”

The award, a commemorative plaque, will be displayed in the range classroom with the recipient’s name engraved each year. In addition, a framed certificate is presented to the honoree as a personal keepsake.
