Sgt. Chris Erwin, a deputy with the Delaware Co. Sheriff’s office, is seen going through a specialized course of fire during the recent NYS-DCJS Firearms Instructor Course held at the James Small Firing Range in Delhi. This course was a multi-faceted dynamic moving drill, with shoot-no shoot decision making situations, lateral moving targets, up-down threats and shooting from unconventional positions. It was a timed course with magazine exchanges required, and working through malfunctions caused by dummy rounds.
Overall scoring was based on time, number of hits per shots fired, not hitting any “good guys”, proper use of cover and sound, fundamental tactics.
Sgt. Erwin took top gun honors during this exercise.
